NBL Saturday

Going against the conventional wisdom on tonight's game with Wildcats at 36ers. Yes the Wildcats are playing back to back defeating the Dragons (my pick last night) on the first leg and now they are at the Dome. Not only is this back to back road game, but also 36ers revenge spot getting whipped in their first meeting 119-84 at Perth. So why are the Sixers +3.5 home dogs? Because their weapons are limited and they are giving up the inside. The Books are thinking they are going to lose at home and I think the Cats will be too much. Sixers are desperate to win one, but sometimes that desperation will play against them. Taking the top ranking Wildcats to surge in the second half to pull away and put this to rest. Cats are ready today as the starters got quite of bit of rest in last night's game with the reserves getting more minutes than usual. WILDCATS -3.5(L)

NBL Saturday

The late show with NBL. Half past midnight the ball will tip off at Brisbane Convention Center and this is revenge for the high flying Bullets playing against the Sydney Kings. Like the NBA Suns, Nuggets and Warriors, the Bullets are run & gun open court transition team playing in tip top form. Averaging league high 118+ points, climbing higher in recent games, they are blowing away the opponents. Sydney took the early game when Bullets looked nothing like now and tonight in Brisbane the basketball will rain down crushing the Kings. Brisbane Bullets -11.5(L) ---------------------------------------------------- Perth Wildcats at South Dragons. Cats are the better team, but last time they met at Vodafone Arena (South Dragons home) Dragons had the win in their hands and let it slip away. They come into this game after taking a embarrassing -32 point loss to the Brisbane Bullets as a +1 home dog. Speculation is a very tight game. Go with the home dog on a revenge match at home. South D...

NBL Friday

Looks like a grindem out type of game coming up Kings vs Tigers at at AIS Arena in a neutral venue. Believe me 198 is a low total in NBL and although this match can easily end in the 90's I'll be playing the side. Tiger in dominating form Kings will be in trouble tonight (or this morning if your in the States). This game will tip off half past midnight PST. TIGERS -3.5 at -106 for 1 unit(W) Told ya, grindem out game. Am I doing better with NBL than NBA?

Euroleague Basketball coming to you past Midnight

Taking a look at Euroleague Basketball match wish CSKA Moscow vs Winterthur FCB. Game Preview: First place in Group C will be on the line Wednesday when reigning Euroleague champion CSKA Moscow hosts Winterthur FCB Barcelona in the Russian capital. Winterthur, one of two remaining undefeated teams in the Euroleague this season, topped Fenerbahce Ulker at home 84-70 last week as league-leading scorer Juan Carlos Navarro had 19 points. CSKA routed Zalgiris in Kaunas 59-78 as Trajan Langdon and Matjaz Smodis scored 15 each. The game will see some old teammates reunited, as Langdon and Barcelona center Denis Marconato were teammates under CSKA coach Ettore Messina on the Benetton Treviso squad that lost to Barcelona in the 2003 title game. Barca big man Michail Kakiouzis and CSKA's David Andersen and David Vanterpool were all teammates on Montepaschi Siena's 2004 Final Four team. Smodis and Thomas Van Den Spiegel played also played at the 2004 Final Four alongside Barca's Gianl...

As usual the Sharp play takes unassuming match ups away from the spot light and taken side with New Mexico State Aggies taking on the Pacific Tigers at Pan American Center. Aggies All-Western Athletic Conference forward Tyrone Nelson is out with broken bone in his right hand, but Aggies should still have no problem pounding the inside. Tyrone Nelson is the guy in the news for allegedly robbing a pizza man so he has issues outside the court and didn't look like he was in the game before he broke his hand better off without him today. Pacific has a fine program, but lost too many player to be effective against a team like Aggies. New Mexico State -4 First Half(L) ----------------------------------------------- Another unassuming game with local story is New Orleans University vs Tulane. Made an mistake on NBL game and hopefully the selection will make up for the error. Brisbane Bullets vs Adelaide 36ers at Brisbane. I understand these two teams have rivalry going back quite a way, but Bullets 8-3 on the top of their game comes in championship form taking on the lowly 36ers 4-7 in 9th place needing a win badly. Too bad they're playing the Bullets at home. Bullets -11.5 at -110(W)

Konami Cup Taiwan vs Japan

Konami Cup is the Asian Baseball championship with representing teams from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. Japan and Korea are the front runners with Taiwan as the dark horse and China as the ultimate long shot more like a observer. The Bears (Taiwan) are playing good baseball and they took out the favored Lions (Korea). The game was tight and runs came with very timely hits. Well the Bears have exhausted their top pitchers and they face the very tough Nippon Ham Fighters (Japan). The Money line price is high, but the fighters are solid today. Nippon Ham Fighters -181(W)

FYI

Looking to follow the series unfolding in Taiwan, Korea and Japan. I have some Asian contacts locally following the game and interesting dramas are taking place in each location. There are MLB interests with the Manager Hillman who is contending for the Japan Series with the Fighters. They are the Underdogs matching up with the winningest team in Japan the Dragons. In Korea the Underdog Eagles match up with another top team in their league the Lions who has rolled to take their division and have been waiting for the series opponent. In Taiwan it's the offensive powerhouse Bears taking on the team with most series win in history the Lions. Had the Bears last night, but it was a close game with Bears coming out on top 4-3. I'm not playing every game, but keeping my eyes open for opportunistic plays.

2006 FIBA World Championship Semi-Final

Better late than never. Just added the title and link for this match-up. Hope this helps. FIBA Friday. USA is not taking their position like their predecessors and the collective is making play adjustments under everyone's noses. Sure Greece is tough and they could very well take the double digit point spread to win ATS, but this USA team is eyeing the prize and taking it to the top contender here would send a clear message.....USA the home of NBA. USA -3 for 1st Quarter -112 for 1 unit(W) GREECE/USA 1st Quarter Over 40 -106 for 2 units(L) GREECE/USA Half Over 80 -112 for 2 units(W)
Going against the grain with early morning FIBA. Greece vs France 1st Quarter Under 35.5 +101 for 1 unit(W) One down two to go. Germany vs USA 1st Half Under 92.5 -101 for 1 unit(W) Germany vs USA Under 185 -109 for 1 unit(W) Game total drops to 184.5 and 1st Half total price jumps Over which is books adjusting 1st Half Over/Game Under to sustain balance. If you follow the money move rising do not be lured take the plus money. Increasing wager: Germany vs USA 1st Half Under 92.5 +105 for 1 unit(W) Viva FIBA ! Good morning, hello and good night

Sunday early morning FIBA. France and Angola. If France was not aware of what's coming against them the -5.5 ATS might loom large, but I think they've seen enough Angola. The French men will take this team serious and with size advantage they will look for strong defense to halt the speedy Angolans. But even with this scheme in mind the Total is low. Angolans can hit from the perimeter and run against top contenders. Scoring to reach into the 70's for both teams. Over 143 at -115 for 2 units(L) Angola could not buy a basket in the 1st quarter and it was all too little too late.

Saturday morning 01:00 PST. These games are not helping my sleep, but does wonders for my bank and I need it with all the bad baseball games. SLO in the early morning to take Turkey. I was looking at the Total 153 moving down to 152, it bounced around a bit before Pinny took it lower. This number initially looked like Under dictated by Turkey's defense, but I think Slovenia will have the energy and tempo taking the Total Over. Books are thinking in similar lines. I'll watch that to see if the price moves Under at 152 or if the Sharps will come in Over near the close. It has bounced towards Over. Better reversed this Side play and get off it on 2nd half. Turkey momentum is surging and Slovenia shots are not falling. SLO +109 for 5 units(L) SLO/TUR OVER 152 at Even for 8 units(W) TUR 2nd Half -2 for -109 for 5 units(W) 2-1 +8.00 units
FIBA Wednesday. The game that stands out for me is Serbia & Montenegro vs Argentina. There are foreseeable scoring options on both sides to exceed 158.5 total. Should see S&M in the 80+ points and Argentina 90+ points. 41-40 Half Time. Good game. S&M/ARG OVER 158.5 at -105 for 2 units(W) ------------------------------------------------------------ Angola vs Germany. Angola getting +6 looks too many. Angola is playing good ball while Germany does not look smooth. 30-33 Half time Germany, but Angola made the push closing the gap. Striking range. ANG +6 at -105 for 2 units(W)
Back for more FIBA Fever. Today the match up with New Zealand and Japan. What gives NZ the edge here is the insertion of Mark Dickel 6'2" point guard who is a spark plug to stop the slide. Japan coming off win against Panama can be pesky and home crowd will be rockin', but take New Zealand SU on this fight. NZL -156 for 1 unit(W) ----------------------------------------------------- How are USA? They look like they have some killer instinct this year. USA to make a statement against the 3-0 Italy. Italy got the wild card to be here they did not qualify. Yes, they are showing guts, but they were trailing Senegal by 11 in late 3rd. USA -19.5 at -101 for 1 unit(L)
FIBA Championship. Today the game is PR vs China. Like this game to fall below the Total. PR/CHN UNDER 167.5 for 2 units(L) PR/CHIN Game to go to OverTime +700 for 1 unit(W) --------------------------------------------------------------- With support and inspiration I will back USA against the not to be under estimated underdog Slovenia. SLO is capable of running up the score as they showed against Senegal (96-79). Against Italy, Slovenia came out aggressive had good tempo than they let off and Italy took advantage. Definite mistake the team admits. Not sure if SLO wants to run and gun with U.S., but they will be aggressive to score. U.S. is coming together this group playing team ball can and will score 110+. I also think in this world game format, in the interest of world wide basketball growth, U.S. is intent on playing offense ball which is what the world audience wants and allowing opponents to score 90+ points when U.S. is on their way to 110+ does not seem to pose any problems. ...
Japan and Panama. I like this game to go Under 151. Japan has rarely reached such lofty Total and Panama's high scoring game is driven by the opponent. Today Panama will try to slow this game and play the size advantage. JPN/PAN UNDER 151 at -107 for 3 units(W)
Lets play off season Basketball on FIBA World Championship games in Japan. Have a good one set to start 00:30 PST. Slovenia vs Senegal Backing Slovenia to win big. Primoz Brezec will dominate the middle with back up Radoslav Nesterovic Makris from San Antonio Spurs, Forward BostjanNACHBAR from New Jersey Nets and point guard BenoUDRIH also from San Antonio Spurs. NBA has quite of bit of Euro flavor these days, but Senegal has not produced any. SLOVENIA -22.5 at -110 for 3 units(L) Wow, all the Favs did not cover the big spread. ODDS ON GEORGE MASON TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPIMPROVE FROM 400/1 TO 6/1 PinnacleSports.com Updates Odds On Final Four Teams To Win NCAA Tournament WILLEMSTAD, CURACAO (March 27, 2006)—Cinderella has officially arrived at“the big dance” as George Mason become only the second double-digit seedto reach the Final Four in tournament history. Presidents day at NCAA Basketball. At the Western Athletic Nevada Wolf Packs are sitting on top looking to feed on Idaho Vandals at Cowan Spectrum in Moscow, Idaho. The Packs are a powerhouse to be reckoned with Forward Nick Fazekas driving this team, also the main focus of their opponents. Vandals will have to be perfect in order to even be in the game. The visiting Wolf Pack opened as 17.5 point favorites and this line stands at 14.5 at my writing. Looks like some books have adjusted to 14 points. Totals opened at 132 moved downwards and now at 133.5. In line with the Cappers, coach Mark Fox is worried of Wolf Packs letdown and he has been showing his team video clips of Vandals taking care of business against Fresno, in their rare win at home. The Packs are aware and they will take command and rebounding seems to be the focus of the day. NEVADA -14.5 -110 NEV/IDA UNDER 133.5 -110
I'm back on CBB. Saturday morning hoops with De Paul at St Johns. May not be the game to watch, but I like "under the radar" games. The match up on ATS is a tough one. De Paul is burning backers money in recent games, conference record is ugly 2-9. St Johns slightly better 4-8, but 6-13 ATS giving -5 points? That is a hell of a lot to give and money is moving towards De Paul. What I do see, in simple terms, is the Total set too low in the 1st Half. DEPAUL/STJOHNS 1st Half Over 54 -122 for 2 units
This is my pick on NCAA Basketball. I was considering a blog on CBB, but I'm not picking enough games to have it's own blog. So, I will place them here. Pennsylvania at Columbia. Ivy League version of the top dog playing the bottom dweller. Simply in sportsline basics you consider the dog. The dog is at home. Has the dog shown any signs? 1st half lead against Brown and contested game against Yale. Can Columbia Lions win this match-up? Not a chance. How about with 14.5 points? Maybe, If Penn underestimates this game. What's the wager? I like the defense to play the role. PEN/COL UNDER 134 -105 for 3 units(W) ------------------------------------------------------------------- High Point at Loyola Maryland. I will admit to lacking High Point knowledge, but I will say this total is set too high. It moved down 1 point from opening and may fall some more. I'll take it now.
